Villars - 12 km
The castle of Puyguilhem, a classified historic building, dates
from the first era of the Renaissance and is as beautiful as some of
those of the Valley of the Loire from the time of François I.
The Villars’
Grotto is small but has as much to offer as some of the larger ones
in Black Perigord.
And the ruins of the Cistercian Abbey at Boschaud built between 1154 and 1159 were built with money donated by Perouse
Abbey nearby. Its architecture is inspiring, uniting Cistercian principles
with typical Perigordian style (an unusual domed and pillared construction).
This sacred place, rediscovered in the 19th Century, exudes mysticism.
